The Importance of People Development
If your company's growth isn't where you want it to be, it might be because you have the wrong strategy. Maybe it's an ineffective sales process. Maybe you're giving low levels of service. Maybe it's poor marketing…maybe. But we typically don't know for sure. However, what we do know for sure is that if you focus on making your people better every single day, your company will be better.
So, I have 5 questions for you:
Do you have a rigorous hiring process that results in A-players 75% of the time?
Are you assessing your talent each and every quarter to identify who your A, B, and C players are and the actions you've got to take for each of those?
Are you conducting coaching sessions with each team member regularly? Do you know the difference between coaching and feedback?
Does each member of your team have a learning and development plan? Do you have one?
Do you have the courage to make the tough decisions to cut the cord when someone isn't a great fit for the team when they're holding the team back?
What are you doing to make yourself better, and to make your team better, every day?
