Invest in yourself
I was on my way in Atlanta from the airport to a client meeting.
And I had one of those chatty Uber drivers. And he was talking to me a lot about investing.
He wanted to know, where I invested my money, what I did for money. And he was talking a lot about the real estate investments he had made in the past some worked, some didn't, he was wondering whether it was the right time to invest in real estate.
Now, I'm not a financial adviser.
I don't know all that much about real estate.
But it really focused me on where I do make my investments. And I asked him a question because he was worried so much about when the right time to invest was given what was going on in the world, and inflation versus recession, and the pandemic and what Biden was going to do and what Congress was going to do.
And I wanted to help him realize that he was spending a lot of time investing in things that were outside of his control.
But the question I had for him is, what are you doing to invest in yourself?
And through his questions, he helped me realize what my investment philosophy is.
And that's that I invest in myself, first.
I'm not saying I don't make other financial investments.
But my number one investment of my money, my number one investment of my time, my number one investment in my the bandwidth from my brain, is it myself, is investing in my own personal growth, investing in my own professional growth, investing in my business, be it training, or bringing on team members, or getting some new certification or reading books, or meditating in the morning, I invest my time, my money, my brain power in myself first, why do I do that?
I do that because I don't have control over much in the world. But I do have control over this.
I absolutely have control over what I do, where I focus, what my emotions are, what actions I take, and what outcomes I get from it.
So where are you investing in yourself?
How much money how much time are you spending, investing in your personal growth, your professional growth, having the right team and community around you?
That's your number one investment, how much time, how much money are you spending there?
